Areas of Practice

Pardons & Paroles

Make sure your loved one has the best opportunity to be reunited with his/her family.

The three members of the Alabama Bureau of Pardons and Paroles consider nearly 500 parole cases each month. Consequently, the chance that your loved one’s case will receive an in-depth consideration is not very good. Our experienced attorney can help you or your loved one get the consideration he or she deserve . Knowledge of the Alabama parole process enables us to convince the Board that the parole applicant is ready for parole; that he/she will be successful upon release; and, that the parolee will pose no serious risk to the community. This is our goal.

How can we help you?

*   By identifying the right documents and information, which we index and forward to the Board, without overwhelming the Members with excessive or unnecessary information.

*  By Advising the parole candidate on how to write a letter to the Board that will increase his/her chances of parole.

* By Advising the candidate about which courses to take to increase his/her chances of parole.

*  By advising family members and friends about how to write letters of support to increase the candidate’s chances of parole.

* By ensuring that a comprehensive parole packet is sent to the Board for its timely consideration.

*   By presenting mitigating factors or evidence that may not be otherwise available to the Board for its consideration.

*    By appearing in person at the parole candidate’s hearing to effectively present and argue the parole candidate’s case in the light most favorable to the candidate.

Modifications

In certain cases the trial judge retains jurisdiction to modify the sentence at any time. Whether originally given a split sentence, consecutive sentences or whether you are eligible for Community Corrections, our attorney will fight to get you the sentence you deserve.

Rule 32

Under Alabama Law, Rule 32 practice is extremely technical. The slightest error could get you or you loved one bounced out of court, with little or no recourse. With over 35 years of experience, our attorney is able to thoroughly review your record, identify all issues, and present them in a timely and effective manner.

Habeas Corpus

Like Rule 32 motions, state and federal habeas petitions requires an experienced attorney with extensive knowledge of the law and the rules. Because the Petitioner has no right to an attorney at this stage of the proceeding, many inmates attempt to prepare and file habeas petitions themselves. This is a mistake. A habeas petition may be your last shot. Don’t go it alone. Let our experienced attorney evaluate your case and guide you through this difficult process.

Criminal Appeals

After you are convicted and sentenced there is still hope. You still have a right to appeal. Appellate work takes considerable time and research. Most importantly, it takes the ability to write concisely and persuasively. With over 35 years of experience handling criminal appeals, our attorney has a track record of success. Let us fight for you.
